CLAT stands for Common Law Admission Test and is conducted by the Consortium of NLUs every year to enroll students for undergraduate and postgraduate law courses in various National Law Universities in India. Every year, the number of students participating in this exam is increasing exponentially, thereby increasing the competition. Thus, the students must put their best foot forward in the exam to deal with the competition and come out with flying colors. To do so, they must effectively manage their time while attempting the paper so that they can optimize the time to yield the best results. This article will furnish you with some exclusive tips and tricks for Time Management in the CLAT 2021 exam.
Divide time for each section
Set a fixed time for each question
Don’t get stuck on the questions you don’t know
Try to comprehend the paper in the first reading
Do not get distracted
Practice Mock Tests
Do SWOT analysis
Divide time for each section
This is the first step towards effectively optimizing your time for the CLAT exam. The students must know that the CLAT paper consists of five sections: Verbal Ability, Quantitative Aptitude, Logical Reasoning, General Knowledge, and Legal Aptitude. The students must fixate each section’s time duration as per their preference and stick to it during the exam.
Set a fixed time for each question
After setting the time for each section, the next step is to decide the time you will give to each question of that section. It will ensure that you get time to attempt all the questions and nothing gets left behind. This will also give you an idea about the chronology of the questions to be attempted; you can try the easier ones first to have extra time left for the difficult ones.
Don’t get stuck on the questions you don’t know
Do not keep thinking about the answers to the questions you cannot recall. This will waste your precious time, and you will have no time left even for the questions you know. Don’t squander your time on any questions. Just read the paper; if you know the answer, mark it, and if you don’t, move ahead to the next one. Remember, every second count in the examination.
Try to comprehend the paper in the first reading
During the exam, you will not have enough time to repeatedly read the question paper; therefore, you must understand it in the first reading. When you are going through the paper, read it with full concentration, and be mentally present while reading it. Mindlessly going through the paper will simply waste your time; soak in clearly what is written in the paper in the very first go.
Do not get distracted
It is very easy to get distracted in the exam hall, but not doing so will be the best for you. An observant eye that never misses out on anything interesting can be a problematic issue in the exams. The distraction could be anything – from the candidate sitting next to you, the invigilator in the room, or the window near your desk. Try to focus on nothing but your paper during the exam. Looking here and there.
